A 10-minute documentary about the Healing Our Communities program (2016-2019) in Rwanda, produced by one of our project partners, Aegis Trust. The program is a collaborative effort with three Rwandan partner organizations which addresses grievances from the 1994 genocide—focusing on a total of 16 communities.
Our partners in this program are Healing and Rebuilding Our Communities, which facilitates trauma healing among both survivors and former perpetrators; Aegis Trust, which engages youth in service and documentary projects; and Institute of Research and Dialogue for Peace, which creates dialogue clubs for resolving conflicts in each project community. The program also creates opportunities for community participants to share their successes and challenges with local and national-level policymakers. This work is supported by a grant from USAID.
This 40-minute film is about people taking action to stop the cycles of war and violence that have fractured and sometimes destroyed their communities. Focusing especially on the aftermath of the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the 1990s, it portrays the work of our conflict transformation projects around the world.
Since a people's movement in Nepal successfully brought about an end to the civil war and the monarchy, Karuna Center has engaged hundreds of civil society and government leaders in skill-building for sustainable peace. Our work has reached from rural war-torn villages to the halls of parliament. This 20-minute documentary tells that story, with rare and vivid footage of social change in action.
