Through our work to engage the people most impacted by conflicts and to support the peacebuilding efforts of regional institutions, we build community resilience to face complex problems: the effects of climate change, the spread of violent extremism, and escalating conflicts between farmers and herders.

PROTECTING OUR COMMUNITIES: BUILDING ON WOMEN’S AND YOUTH’S KNOWLEDGE TO INCREASE CIVILIAN SECURITY (2019-present)

Protecting Our Communities engages communities of farmers and herders in preventing the spread of violent conflict and stopping existing conflicts from escalating. From 2019-2021, we will work as a Nigeria-based team to build the capacity of community members to reduce violence, with a particular focus on engaging women and youth.

REACTING TO EARLY WARNING AND RESPONSE DATA (REWARD) (2015-present)

We are part of a consortium assisting the Commission of Peace and Security of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)—a 15-nation trading bloc that has emerged as a powerful force for peace and is headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria. As part of the USAID-funded REWARD program led by Creative Associates, we support ECOWAS’ work to strengthen the effectiveness of their response to early warning of emerging conflicts.
